Making a life changing decision to go natural is not easy. I can assure you that it gets easier as you get better at understanding the benefits of changing your lifestyle. Below are a few key areas worth assessing so you as well as your family can live as one with nature.
What are you consuming?
Remember that old adage? you are what you eat? Your body is a temple and you should treat it as the highest and most sacred thing you own. You have to be conscious of what you eat so that you can be in a great health and of course stick with organic foods. As you are aware, there are hidden chemicals and additives in so much of our food that is readily available at any grocery store. Take a look at your weekly shopping list. When you go to the grocery store, read the labels carefully on your favorite items and look to replace as many as the pre-packaged processed foods with fruit and vegetables, lean meats and low carb. You lose of the valuable nutrients when you consume processed good.
How do you manage your stress?
Comfort food has been the go-to solution when we are very stressed, tired or super emotional. This is incredibly unhealthy but I do understand the instant reward when we eat that delicious bowl of vanilla bean ice cream (which really turns into eating an entire pint! shhh!!!) When things get tough, why not try some yoga or any sort of meditation? I personally find that when I exercise during a high stress episode, I feel much better when I am done working out. Keep moving! physical exercise is one of the key elements to staying healthy and investing time in it regularly is not only beneficial for the body but also for the mind; it lifts moods and keeps you happy. Something else that I helps relieves stress is cleaning my entire house; from doing laundry to wiping tables and countertops to even end with cleaning the most dreadful room- the bathroom!
Your home is your sanctuary
Living a natural life would mean that your bathroom cabinet is full of natural beauty products – Studies find that women are more exposed to toxic chemicals when they use regular beauty products . When you are shopping for beauty products, make sure you avoid products with chemicals, paragons or added fragrances. How about you also change the cleaning chemicals in your home? There are so many options for natural cleaning products; I am sure you already have all the ingredients in your cupboard to make your very own DIY disinfectant. When it comes to cleaning products, where possible try to use natural products like baking soda and vinegar – your grandma’s cleaning regime has a lot to offer if you want to live an organic life.
